3E Online Now Available in French
The user interface for 3E Online has now been translated into French! To see the site translated into French, simply select "French" from the dropdown box on the login page and then enter your username and password. Look for full user interface translation into additional languages in Q2 of 2009.
User-Managed Logins Now Available in 3E Online
3E Online customers now have the ability to set-up and manage their own user names and passwords in 3E Online. You will also be able to assign locations to each user so that users only see the locations they are assigned to. This exciting new feature is available under the Admin tab in 3E Online.
User-Managed Facility Tree Now Available in 3E Online
3E Online customers now have the ability to set-up and manage their own facility tree in 3E Online. This new feature is also available under the Admin tab in 3E Online. Customers can add locations to their facility tree and also move locations from one place on the tree to another using a new "cut and paste" function. In addition, customers will be able to deactivate a location and its sublocations and move it into a separate "Inactive Bin". Locations in the "Inactive Bin" can be easily reactivated at any time by the customer.
For existing customers, the Service Integration team will be contacting each customer to discuss the new functionality and turn it on for those who want it.

3E Online: Document Change Notification
With this recent enhancement to 3E Online-MSDS, users can opt to be notified on a weekly basis via email when a new or revised MSDS is added to their catalog. A document is considered "new" if it is the first time the document has been added to the client’s catalog and a "revision" is if the document already existed in the client’s catalog and 3E has updated the previous document with a newer version.
The notification emails, which are pushed to the client on a weekly basis, contain links to both the new document and the old document (if it is a revision), enabling the user to easily compare the two documents to see what has changed.
Users who have facility manager or catalog manager permissions can subscribe to this free service from the Admin tab within 3E Online. It is important to note that only one email address per user login can be subscribed at any one time. So if employees share a login, only one of them will be able to subscribe to the Document Change Notification service.

"Have there been any recent changes to the IATA’s Dangerous Goods Regulations?"
The 50th edition of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations was published in October 2008 and will take effect January 1, 2009. This edition of IATA replaces the 49th edition which must not be used after December 31, 2008, unless specifically permitted.
The 50th edition incorporates all amendments made by the Dangerous Goods Board and includes changes advised, at time of printing, by ICAO to the 2008-2009 Edition of the ICAO Technical Instructions.
Key changes in the 50th edition include:
- Revisions to the list of dangerous goods based on the new numbers assigned by the UN
- Revision to the entry for lithium batteries to separate lithium metal batteries and lithium ion batteries
- Significant amendments and additions to the special provisions, particularly for lithium batteries and fuel cell cartridges
- New packing instructions added for fuel cell cartridges in Division 2.1, Class 3, Division 4.3 and Class 8
- Alignment with the provisions of 2.9.3 of UN Model Regulations of the criteria for classification of environmentally hazardous substances
The 50th edition is in effect from January 1 through December 31, 2009.

This month's featured employee is Mark Garlow, a Technical Analyst for MSDgen Implementation Planning Sessions. Mr. Garlow joined HSE Systems in 1997 and has held a variety of positions through the years, including Client Services, Project Manager and Programmer/Analyst.
In his current role, Mr. Garlow visits new customers to conduct the initial MSDgen implementation planning meetings. These meetings allow the MSDgen team to gather information about what functionality the customer would like out of their new MSDgen purchase. Mr. Garlow also provides customer support for MSDgen, which entails delivering updates to the customer, participating in MSDgen upgrades, and fielding questions and requests about the MSDS authoring solution.
"I take great pride and satisfaction in my role at 3E Company. I enjoy working at 3E for a variety of reasons, including my knowledgeable team and colleagues, and the diverse and interesting customers whom I support," said Mr. Garlow. "I truly enjoy meeting new clients during the implementation planning sessions, and I am fortunate to have meet many terrific people during my travels through the years."
Prior to joining 3E, Mr. Garlow worked as a computer programmer with Haines and Company. He attended Kent State University and received a degree in computer science from Stark Technical College.
